Building the First Educational Hub

In the vibrant community of Anyama, a beacon of hope shines bright, illuminating the path towards a brighter future for its youth. On March 29th, 2023, Impactful Education achieved a significant milestone by opening its first educational hub at Lycee Moderne d’Anyama, the largest public school in Anyama. Prior to this development, students at Lycee Moderne d’Anyama faced considerable challenges. The majority lacked access to fundamental educational resources such as computers and textbooks, with over 80% of the students unable to read or write. Additionally, the high student-to-teacher ratio, averaging 60 students per class, posed significant obstacles to effective teaching and individualized attention.

However, with generous financial support from benefactors such as the Wilton Rotary, Hannah Traore Gallery, and individual donors, Impactful Education collaborated with Books for Africa to procure books and World Computer Exchange to obtain computers. These resources were instrumental in establishing a library that serves as an educational hub, offering transformative learning opportunities for over 5,000 students and 60 teachers at the school.

Our educational hub represents a repository of knowledge, boasting an extensive collection of over 4,000 language books covering both local and international subjects, and 24 computers equipped with educational materials such as offline Khan Academy, Microsoft Suite, and interactive learning tools like Scratch. The inauguration of our educational hub was an occasion of celebration and reflection. Students showcased their talents through artistic performances, while community leaders and educators emphasized the importance of having a hub in the school and the impact it will have on their educational journey.

This initiative signifies more than just the provision of physical resources; it symbolizes hope and opportunity for the youth of Anyama.
